Acting Chinese Consul General in Cape Town Wang Xiao Leads Consular Protection Campaign at Universities in the Consular District

On October 21 and 23, 2026, Acting Consul General Wang Xiao of the Consulate General in Cape Town led a team to the University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University in South Africa to hold consular protection activities on campus as part of the "Face-to-Face with the Consulate" series. Nearly 40 people attended, including Chinese teachers and volunteers from the Confucius Institutes of the two universities, Chinese students, and visiting scholars.

Acting Consul General Wang Xiao noted that the Consulate General stays committed to the people-centered principle and the vision of serving the people through diplomacy, and strives to provide consular protection and assistance to Chinese citizens in the consular district. She stressed that the safety of overseas students is no small matter, and that the Consulate General will continue to promote consular protection publicity on campuses, provide timely assistance to Chinese students in South Africa, and help them raise safety awareness and build a solid line of defense.

Tailored to the local security situation and recent real cases, the event focused on measures to protect personal and property safety, and also answered questions on passport and visa policies on the spot.

Earlier, the Consulate General had also held consular protection activities on campuses at the University of the Western Cape and Rhodes University in South Africa.
