UM to host World Universities Public Speaking Invitational Championship next Friday and Saturday

MACAU, August 20 - In celebration of its 45th anniversary, the University of Macau (UM) will host the World Universities Public Speaking Invitational Championship 2026 on 28 and 29 August. The event will bring together outstanding students from 26 leading universities around the world, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, the University of Oxford, Stanford University, and Harvard University. Through English public speaking, the championship aims to promote intercultural exchange and showcase students’ communication skills, critical thinking, and global perspectives. The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

The championship will take place at the UM University Hall (N2). The semi-finals will be held on 28 August (Friday) at 2:30pm. In addition, UM will host two public speaking workshops at the Student Activity Centre Theatre (E31-G001). Experienced trainers and professional speakers will share practical techniques for speech delivery, persuasive communication, and competition preparation, providing valuable insights for participants seeking to enhance their public speaking and presentation skills.
