MFC Announces Promotion of Shaun Rogers to Assistant Forest Management Chief
The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) has announced the promotion of Shaun Rogers to Assistant Forest Management Chief. Rogers has served with the MFC since 2004. He will begin his new role this month.
Rogers graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Forest Management. He has worked with the MFC for more than two decades, advancing through the agency and most recently serving as Assistant Regional Forester in Region 1.
“Shaun has been a great asset to the Mississippi Forestry Commission, and his years of experience in the field have prepared him well for this new responsibility,” said Todd Matthews, Forest Management Chief. “He understands the importance of working with our landowners and partners, and he has consistently demonstrated the leadership and knowledge needed to serve Mississippi’s forest resources.”
In his new role, Rogers will assist with the statewide coordination and oversight of the MFC’s Forest Management program. His responsibilities will include working with regional and field staff, supporting the management of 16th Section school trust lands, reviewing forest management plans and activities, and assisting with program and grant administration.
Rogers will also conduct field and program reviews and work with private landowners, school districts, and other partners. His position will provide additional leadership and support for the Forest Management Department while helping ensure consistency in forest management activities statewide.
“I’m honored to serve as Assistant Forest Management Chief and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the Mississippi Forestry Commission in this new role,” said Rogers. “I look forward to working with our Forest Management team and partners across the state to support Mississippi’s landowners and forest resources.”
